Description
This is the great white egret. It’s scientific name is Ardea alba. It almost became extinct during the feather craze when women wanted exotic bird feathers all over their hats. Early conservation efforts thankfully saved this beautiful large bird. Here the egret feasts on a newly-caught mosquito fish from Baldwin Lake in Arcadia, CA.
