Music is a powerful force. It has been researched and documented that people on the autism spectrum very often have a high sensitivity to both sound and music. They have a much higher rate of perfect pitch and can often really tune in to the different emotions that are communicated through music. This piece represents a convergence of several really important things in my creative life: autism, music, and visual art. It was created as a visual representation of my 9th Symphonic Picture subtitled "Interoseption" and appears on the title page. Interoception refers to the often unknown eighth sense (yes, there are actually eight, something I was very excited to discover!) that has to do with our interior sensations and feelings. Greetings! I am so happy to be a part of this amazing worldwide community or artists. I come from a family of creative people and am grateful to my parents for cultivating my creativity which is now part of my daily life. I am a classically-trained musician and violinist with a doctorate in violin performance and until recently was the director and conductor of the La Verne Symphony Orchestra which I am happy to say still flourishes in that city. At the moment I've left the stage in order to raise our two little babies. Being a mom is what I do now. And the challenge is weaving creativity into this new life.
