The monarch butterfly life cycle is a wonderful and interesting information. I believe also that their age from birth till death is like 2 weeks (this may or may not be true, it is what I remember. I love your painting of the wonderful monarch butterflies. The detail is amazing! - Sherry

Artist's Description

One of the greatest animal migrations on earth is that of the little monarch butterfly. They brave all kinds of weather and terrain, some of them traveling from as far away as Canada, to reach their overwintering trees in Michoacán, Mexico. They come from all over the continent of North America east of the Rockies and travel to a few special trees and a few locations in the forests of Mexico as a key part of their survival. Several years ago I was fortunate enough to get to travel and see this natural phenomenon in person. The trees were covered with literally millions of butterflies and you could actually hear them flying. They often received their hydration from mudpuddles, so that’s what I painted here. Really there were a lot more even than in this painting! It’s amazing to think of how so many small insects can find their way thousands of miles to a place they’ve never been.

At the moment I've left the stage in order to raise our two little babies. Being a mom is what I do now. And the challenge is weaving creativity into this new life. This is how I rediscovered my love for visual arts (and which is also why you will see babies in many of my works!). I have a deep...
