Artist's Description

My mom gave us the gift of nature by teaching us how to garden. We had a huge vegetable garden in our little backyard. We grew all kinds of food in it! I'm passing this life lesson on to my kids. In this image, my little son tends his cucumber vine. I have to teach him how to be gentle and to let the leave grow. He loves looking at the bright yellow flowers and the baby cucumbers! Children are natural-born philosophers. They know instinctively that it's the most "ordinary" things that are the most wonderful and mysterious. Children help remind us adults of mystery of the universe. This painted is done in a post-impressionism style inspired by artists like Gaugin, Matisse, and Van Gogh.
