Description
This piece is part of my autism series. I’m calling this new part of the series, “Autism Acceptance,” because awareness is good, but it’s not enough. People with autism and all other special needs should be appreciated, cared for and accepted for who they are.
This carefully monitored group project done by my kids and me has many layers and was worked on over the course of several days. Many emotions went into it because my daughter, who is on the autism spectrum, became really enthralled with the yellow paint. Whenever we had to stop painting for the day we had very challenging transitions to their activities, though fortunately we had therapists helping us with these. The finished project you see here is the result of experimentation and lots of fun.
